Plans for Peace Colloquy 2018

To build on the mission of our annual Peace Award to support peace-pursuing ventures in the community, create opportunities to learn about ways to become practical peace-makers, and build bridges between organizations with common missions and causes for the pursuit of Peace, we are excited to announce the expansion of the this event, and the first official Orange "Peace Colloquy," hosted on October 19-21, 2018.

The event will begin on Friday evening with registration and gathering opportunities, with Saturday including our presentation of the $5000 Peace Award, an interfaith worship experience, networking opportunities, and workshops from community leaders and peace advocates. If you would like to nominate someone to receive the 2018 Orange Peace Award, look for more details on March 1 for submitting a nomination. If you would like to be engaged in Peace Colloquy as an organization, contact Pastor Daniel Harmon. For more info on the history of the Peace Award at Orange Community of Christ, see below:

Orange Peace Award

Each year, Orange Community of Christ presents a Peace Award to a person or organization in the Orange community that has worked for peace and justice. The award includes a $5000 contribution towards the work of the individual or organization.

Our annual Peace Award event is a celebration of all the organizations in Orange that work to make our community a more just and compassionate place. The day includes a community expo with booths from local non-profits that work for peace, an interfaith worship service, a keynote message from the award recipient, and community lunch.

Previous recipients include:

Jim Carson - The Lighthouse Project at Orangewood Foundation

Cathy Seelig - The Friendly Center

Michelle Tochtrop - L'Arche Wavecrest: Abraham House

Bruno Serato - Catarina's Kitchen
